Jesus the Healer

Other Books By: E.W. Kenyon

Amazon reader review: E.W. Kenyon's book "Jesus the Healer" has long been a favorite of those who believe in divine healing. He lays out the case for healing simply but in a majestic way. He proves that healing belongs to all of God's children. The only areas where I disagree with Kenyon are his statements that all are sick in spirit before they are sick in body, and that the spirit gets healed first and then the spirit heals the body. Our spirits are "vacuum-packed" and cannot be touched with disease or sin for that matter. So, healing doesn't apply to our spirits for there is no such thing as "spiritual healing" per se. If anything, it is our minds that need to be renewed in order to receive healing. But this is a small point out of all of the good points Kenyon makes and it should be read by all Christians--especially those in need of healing.

When Heaven Invades Earth: A Practical Guide To A Life Of Miracles

Other Books By: Bill Johnson

When Heaven Invades Earth is a powerful statement and testimony on the Kingdom of God. Theologically sound, well supported, and extremely well argued, this message provides a carefully constructed biblical foundation for the average Christian to live and walk in the miraculous, supernatural power of God. Not only is the supernatural possible, it is also our commission. The Great Commission that Christ gave to the Church challenges us and makes us responsible to rise up to this supreme supernatural calling. Johnson shows you how you are called to dominion in the earth through the divine rule of God.

The Supernatural Power of a Transformed Mind: Access to a Life of Miracles

Other Books By: Bill Johnson

Amazon reader review: Pastor Johnson tells us why he is writing this his second book: '. . . to address a very abused subject--the mind of the [Christian] believer' (Introduction, p. 27). He further expresses his heart's mission for the spiritual 'reformation' of the Christian churches when he says, 'I have come to see that the normal Christian life means miracles, spiritual intervention, and revelation. It means praise, joy, love, a sense of well-being and purpose--all these traits that elude so many Christians' (chap. 1, p. 31). The number and diversity of miraculous interventions (viz., food multiplications; healings; exorcisms; resurrections; et al) that Johnson relates as an ongoing string of testimony from both his own personal experience and the experiences of his many satellite ministers and ministries are dramatic indeed and truly amazing! Again, the earlier ministries of Kathryn Kuhlman, Smith Wigglesworth, Maria Woodworth Etter, the apostles, Jesus, and the Hebrew prophets all come to mind. But are what the apostle Paul describes as 'varieties of gifts' and 'varieties of ministries' distributed 'individually' but not pervasively (cf. 1 Cor. 12:2-30); to be rightly understood as normative and 'standard operating procedure' for every believer in every assembly? Johnson believes so, and he writes: 'It is unnatural for a Christian to not have an appetite for the impossible' (p. 29), and 'signs, wonders, and miracles are as normal to the gospel as it is normal for you to get up in the morning and breathe. Revival is the Christian life; you can't dissect the two' (p. 156).

SPTM represents neither a 'false word of faith theology,' nor is the author (a fifth generation Christian pastor) caught in a spiritual aberration as one reviewer charges. Johnson writes with an above average degree of candor, disclosing a number of his own human frailties and the ongoing history of his own difficult struggle to grow spiritually and to keep an 'open heaven' above himself and the Christians who he oversees in Redding, California and beyond. His insights from the Scriptures are numerous and important.

A More Excellent Way : A Teaching on the Spiritual Roots of Disease

Other Books By: Henry W. Wright

Amazon reader review: A More Excellent Way has affected my life profoundly. Most of all, it has made the Bible come alive for me again, and helped me to really believe God for my healing. It is a very encouraging book. The author maintains that 80% of all illnesses have spiritual roots; if you restrict this to chronic illnesses, which allopathic medicine has little success with, I would agree with him.

The book seems like it is a long transcription of a seminar that the author, a pastor, gives, and although it seems to ramble at times, I found everything in it useful and practical. I was greatly inspired by his digressions. He makes it clear that his very successful ministry (especially to people with MCS/EI) is in its embryonic stage, and that there is much more to learn in this area. He is very honest and straightforward.

The whole book is very Bible-based. It answers the question, "What if everything in the Bible were really true and for today, especially about healing?"...I know that might sound like it's a "name it and claim it" book (but it's not) or like it's a book that puts people down who get prayer but don't get instantly healed (but it's not). Instead it's a book that deals with why people might not be healed and practically what they can do from a spiritual perspective. I do not feel condemned or put down because I have not yet been fully healed; instead I feel excited about the spiritual healing the Lord is doing and will continue to do...and so at peace about the physical manifestations and the symptoms and the pain I currently have. I look so forward to continuing to follow the healing steps of the "walk out" and to the work that the Lord is doing in my life because of this book.

Daughter of Destiny (by Kathryn Kuhlman & Jamie Buckingham)

Other Books By: Kathryn Kuhlman

Amazon reader review: Recently, I read "Daughter of Destiny" and found the book to be truly amazing! Actually, I was speechless and had to take time to evaluate the many miracles that God has performed in my life. The book discloses Kathryn's call to the ministry, strengths, weaknesses, and her prayer that the Holy Spirit will always be with her. One of the truly profound strengths of the book is revealed when Kathryn is so strong-willed until she appears to be 'lead by the flesh' resulting in her losing focus on the agenda that God has for her. However, once her focus is completely on God, one is able to see the true manifestation of the Holy Spirit in all His GLORY! In all reality, the book shows how we as Christians sometimes get distracted only to later focus and love Jesus Christ with all of our heart! This book will set you free from the bondages of life! This book is a must read for all Christians who sometimes forget that we are imperfect vessels that God can still use. In addition, it is a great book on how we should be humble when serving a MIGHTY & AWESOME GOD! I guarantee that this book will bring you peace in the midst of any storms in your life as you see that no matter what we do in life, God is still in control. May God keep and bless you as you labor in His vineyard.

Healing Words

Other Books By: Kathryn Kuhlman

Amazon reader review: Faith-filled series of devotional sayings credited to Miss Kuhlman arranged into a little devotional booklet that can be followed every day for a month (the hardcover is worth finding). There are legendary aspects to this material (the biography refers to Miss Kuhlman as "a faith healer", a title she despised), but, overall, Miss Kuhlman is quoted accurately and this is a collectible little book.

Nothing is Impossible with God

Other Books By: Kathryn Kuhlman

Amazon reader review: God honored the prayers of Kathryn Kuhlman. "Take not your Spirit away from me. I am worthless when the flesh gets in the way. God, I won’t move without You!" As a result of her prayers, people were saved, restored and healed.

By the hundreds they would come. "Stand and accept your healing. Come forward and tell us what God has done," she would cry out. Looking at children, adults and ministers of all denominations with eyes full of compassion, she would say, "You’re hungry for God." As she touched them they would fall under His powers. God is a specialist when it comes to the impossible. Captain LeVrier was healed of cancer. Marguerite Bergeron’s crippling, painful arthritis vanished. Donnie Greenway walked out of his wheelchair. Truly, nothing is impossible with God.
