Hebrews, Verse-By-Verse: A Classic Evangelical Commentary

Amazon reader review: Newell is always good and whilst this commentary is not quite up to the Romans standard it is pretty close. Newell is conservative and dispensational. He handles each verse at a devotional / semi-technical level in the main body of the text. This would be enough to recommend the book. But he also drops down into some of the best technical footnotes you will come across. My favorite part though is his clear desire to inspire rather than simply inform. His section on Heb 1:1-3 and his description of communicating IN SON has inspired me and many others (that I have shared it with) more that enough to justify the entry price alone.

Romans Verse by Verse: A Classic Evangelical Commentary

Amazon reader review: There can be few books on Romans comparable to this. Each time I read it, I get blessed. Newell provides tremendous insight into the book of Romans. He has an excellent understanding of what happened at the cross, the substitution work and the new resurrection life. For a foundational knowledge of the new life, of righteousness, Romans must be understood thoroughly. Don't miss this book!!

Revelation Chapter-By-Chapter

Amazon reader review: First let me state: if you are conservative and dispensational then you should have this book, it should be required reading. BUT: for anyone that has read the other two Newell's this book is a little disappointing. He goes chapter by chapter rather than verse by verse and loses much of a semi-technical / technical detail that makes the other books so special. If you want a quick read you can trust then go for it but for detail you may be better with Henry Morris or perhaps the 'What the Bible Teaches: Revelation' book from John Ritchie.
