Watchman Nee

Amazon reader review: This book opened my eyes to a whole world of spiritual reality that I had never seen or even pondered before. Once the truths of the triune nature of man are discovered, you realize where your spiritual power comes from. You understand the mechanics of being tempted and what you must do to become an over comer. You know what you must do in order to manifest in your outward walk the purity and grace that are communicated to your spirit from God. In short, the book teaches you how to have a victorious walk with God by showing you how your spiritual being operates. The knowledge Mr. Nee imparts seems so basic once it is understood, yet without his book, we may never have discovered these profound truths. This book has had a major influence in my thinking.

Amazon reader review: There is a degree of controversy that surrounds Watchman Nee. Don't let that stop you from reading this book. It had been sitting on my shelf for a long time when the "jury duty" call came. Figuring I'd have a lot of reading time over my week of service, I turned my time into a personal retreat with Watchman Nee. That week marked a dramatic change in my life. Nee offers probably the very best ever explanation of the parables of the seed sown to "die" and the broken box of perfume. It totally revolutionized my thinking of how the Spirit of God works in us. Nee shares that our problem is we try to keep the life of the Spirit protected inside us all the while God is trying to shatter the shell to let it escape. It was an incredible concept. For me it changed the way I interacted with people we would normally shy away from. Rather than being places where we need to "shelter" our spiritual life, Nee helped me to realize that is exactly the place a "release of the Spirit" is needed. That is just one of the nuggets in this volume. If you are drawn to books like "God Chasers" and Dutch Sheets various titles, you will love this one. This is a book I buy in volume to give away and so should you. It is simply a classic.

Amazon reader review: Sit, Walk, Stand is based on the three key words which divide the book of Ephesians into its basic sections. Our position in Christ is one of sitting, our life in the world is one of walking and our attitude toward Satan is one of standing. The Christian's entire life is to be founded and lived out from the finished work of Jesus. In it's 78 pages the book concisely sums up a massive amount of Biblical theology and applies it to the believer's every day life. Watchman Nee takes the grand theological treatise of Ephesians and breaks it down into simple, memorable and practical statements. "Christianity begins not with the big DO, but with a big DONE" (pg. 14). "The all important rule is not to "try" but to "trust," not to depend upon our own strength but upon His" (pg. 38). "Our task is one of holding, not of attacking. We do not fight for victory, we fight from victory" (pg. 55). This is only a sampling of many profound statements, which have launched hundreds of sermons. The spiritual truths outlined in Sit, Walk, Stand are simple but profound, critical but often forgotten. The book is a great source for reminding us of these truths. Most of the works of Watchman Nee are wonderful. I recommend the novice to his writings start with this one. It is easy and quick to read yet covers the key understandings further explained in his larger volumes.

review: If you have never read
anything by Watchman Nee, you are in for a treat. I would highly recommend
all of his books. This is one of those classic books that all Christians
should read. Warning: It will challenge you. Depending on your level of
spiritual maturity, you may often find yourself questioning if you have
ever been saved. Of course, this is certainly a healthy thing to examine
every now and then (2 Cor. 13:5).

review: Watchman Nee spent much of
his life in prison for preaching Jesus Christ in China. This was back
around the early 1900's, when gospel resistance was exceedingly fierce for
missionaries in Asia. His books and teachings were written mostly behind
bars, under the oppression of his communist jailers. God was with him in
prison, though, and rewarded his faithfulness by allowing him to lead
several prison guards to Christ before he died.

Amazon reader review: Watchman Nee's Normal Christian Life talked mainly about the fact of redemption and justification based on the book of Romans (especially Chapter 6, 7, and 8), and a little bit about Christ person. While in this book he went much further to reveal God's complete salvation through Christ - a living person put into Christ's believers to be their redemption, righteousness, life, love, patience, peace, joy, humble, and everything! Only Christ exists in God's eye in the whole university. It is really blessed to see this revelation concerning Christ person as a reality of all, because the whole Bible is a revelation of Jesus Christ (Revelation 1:1). This book can help Christ's believers open a spiritual eye to see this wonderful all-inclusive Christ who is far beyond human imagination. |
