90 Minutes In Heaven

Other Books By: Don Piper

Amazon reader review: Written in straight-forward, simple style without a lot of "religionese," Don Piper has told the story of his devastating accident, his brief time in heaven and his return to a life full of pain and questions. I read it cover-to-cover in two hours and then loaned out my copy. I would recommend this book to just about anybody -- to those with questions about faith, questions about prayer, questions about life and death and pain which we all face to some extent.

His descriptions of heaven are human ones -- simple, not overly poetic or grandiose, just those of someone who experienced the indescribable and then tried to describe it. I loved the descriptions of the incredible heavenly music and I get the feeling that vast choirs and heightened senses await us there. And despite the incredible experience, Piper found it too personal, too private, and too intimate to share with anyone for over a year after his accident. I'm so glad he found the courage to do so.

I also love the honesty with which he describes his pain and depression and the inevitable questions that we must face when we have close encounters with the Almighty. The God we meet is often not the one we expected, and while we can't understand why God does what he does, we can no longer deny this God we don't understand. And while we hold these two things together, our lives are changed and grace is showered down amid the ruins of what we thought was important to us. A simply-told story of the greatest mystery of all -- you HAVE to read this book!!

Within Heaven's Gates

Other Books By: Rebecca Springer

Amazon reader review: One of the first books ever written on near death experiences. This wondrous book gets your eyes off the earthly, physical realm and lifts them up to the heavenly, spiritual realm. It is Christ-centered and stands up to the biblical test. I believe this book is a prophetic vision which gives us a glimpse of what heaven will be like for us some glorious day. Uplifting comfort for bereavement, ideal for someone grieving the loss of a loved one who has died in Christ.

My Dream of Heaven: A Nineteenth Century Spiritual Classic: Originally Known As Intra Muros

Other Books By: Rebecca Springer

Amazon reader review: I read this book many years ago and it still impacts me today. The depth of insight on the part of the writer is a complete pleasure to read. If you wonder what’s on the other side, this is an excellent read. In my case, I have numerous older relatives that have questions about the end of their faith. It has been a great comfort to them as well as to me as they drew closer to the end of their lives. Don't get me wrong, you don't have to be on death's doorstep to read this book! Read it now to bolster your faith -- you won't regret it. And, perhaps, like me you'll be able to be a blessing to your loved ones when their time is close.

My Glimpse of Eternity

Other Books By: Betty Malz

At 5:00 on a July morning in 1959, twenty-seven-year-old Betty Malz was pronounced dead. A sheet was pulled over her head. Her mother and husband were notified, her father, prompted by the Lord, was already on his way to the hospital. In My Glimpse of Eternity, Betty describes what she saw, felt, and heard on the other side of the dividing wall that we call "death," then how she returned to her body more than twenty minutes later-to the stunned amazement of her grieving family and the hospital personnel. Her story is good news for all of us haunted by our own mortality. Yet it is even more than that. For this is the story of how God dealt with a proud, materialistic woman who had to die to learn how to live.

My Descent Into Death

Other Books By:  Howard Storm

Although numerous studies and books have explored near-death experiences, the phenomenon has been viewed with caution by many Christian denominations. So it is intriguing to read a first-person report of such an event from the perspective of a pastor in the United Church of Christ. While visiting Paris on a European tour nearly 20 years ago, 38-year-old Storm, then an atheist and art professor at Northern Kentucky University, was stricken with an almost lethal attack of peritonitis. In this necessarily subjective but absorbing chronicle of what is essentially a conversion, the writer describes a descent into Hell, where he confronted his anger and self-centered personality. After praying for the first time, he was rescued by Jesus and brought to heaven for an extensive conversation with Jesus and various angelic beings on topics that include the Holocaust, God's plans for the earth, angelology and, of course, what happens to us when we die. Blending traditional Christian theology with a doctrinal eclecticism more common to New Age philosophy, Storm's book may appeal to readers hungry for reassurance, both about the possibility of eternal life and the meaning of our choices here on earth.
